New Music: Lagos by TOFs
Mention Lagos, and automatically a moving portrait of the fiery hustle and bustle comes to mind. Lagos is a story that never ends, and TOFs uses the eclectic power of music to tell a tale of Africa’s most populated and vibrant city. Lagos opens with a compelling rhythm of Afrobeats percussion and jazz. The song conveys the daily grind, challenges and incessant pursuit to navigate life in Lagos. In a call and response form, TOFs poses a series of thought-provoking rhetorical questions: ‘Wetin you find for Lagos/ You go see for Lagos, Fine Fine girls dey for Lagos/You must to craze for Lagos, Shine your eyes Lagos/ Make you no go craze for Lagos’’.
Wielding his indigenous Afro-drill sound, Tofs makes it clear that there is no room for sluggishness in Africa’s economic capital. Only the fierce and fearless ones make it through. The track also features standout saxophone riffs that are reminiscent of the legendary Fela Kuti. Produced by Extreme Beats, Lagos is TOFs’s newest single after the monumental success of his EP, Vibez and Lifestyle, in July 2022.
